Container 42, the smartest container this planet has ever seen, left the Port of Rotterdam for a two-year data collecting mission around the world. Container 42 will be transported by various ships (sea-going and inland vessels), trains and trucks and will stop at a number of trade fairs and events during its trip around the world. The Asian tour is the first official leg, followed by a tour in 2020 to America and Northern Europe.

The journey started in the Port of Rotterdam on 11th October 2019. The container was transported by an inland vessel via the successful West Brabant corridor (terminals in the hinterland consolidate loads, in order to avoid waiting times at Rotterdam terminals) to Tilburg. As from there, the ship will be transported by train with the so called Rotterdam-Tilburg-Chengdu express. The first leg will take approximately 2-3 months.
